Zenthai Shiatsu
Zenthai Shiatsu is a deeply embodied form of bodywork that brings together elements of Zen Shiatsu, Thai massage and osteopathy.
It works with touch, pressure, movement, stretching, breath and awareness — with the intention of supporting the body to find more space, ease and freedom.
It is an invitation to listen.
Sometimes that means meeting a place of tension or resistance.
Sometimes it means discovering movement where you didn't know there was any.
Sometimes it is simply about receiving, breathing and allowing yourself to be supported.
I work with what is present in the moment rather than following a fixed sequence.
Your body is part of the conversation, and we can stay curious about what it is asking for.
What to expect
You come to the session in comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that allow you to move freely — there is no need to undress.
We begin with a short check-in. There is space to arrive, notice how you are feeling, and share anything you would like me to know or anything you might want to explore in the session. This doesn't need to be a big story or an explanation of why you're here. Sometimes a simple “I'm tired,” “I feel disconnected,” or “I don't really know — I just need to drop into my body” is enough.
From there, we move onto the mat.
The session can include gentle rocking and mobilization, stretches, pressure along the body, assisted movement, joint work, compression and moments of stillness.
I invite you to stay connected to your own sensations throughout, and to communicate what feels good, what doesn't, and what you need.
There is no need to perform, relax perfectly or achieve a particular state.
You can simply arrive as you are.
We usually finish with a little time to pause and notice what has shifted — without needing to immediately make sense of it.
A session is an invitation to come out of your head and back into conversation with your body.
"On the surface we may see a creative form of bodywork integrating techniques and philosophy from Zen Shiatsu, Thai massage and osteopathy... however, at its core there is an invitation to freedom. Freedom not only of the structural and energetic bodies but also, if we are adventurous enough, also the mental and emotional. Experiencing true freedom is not about ‘taking on’ anything new but more-so about letting go of the traps and blockages within our body/mind that prevent us from experiencing our true nature – joyful and free. It becomes the focused intention for both giver and receiver using tools such as touch, breath, movement, awareness and honest self inquiry that is not confined to a yoga mat or futon but each moment of our daily life" - Gwyn Williams
